Education

English Flowers is a great teaching resource!

This page gives some ideas for using this website with a range of subjects and key stages. The themes and downloadable worksheets can be used with classes or for individual study and research. All are linked to the English National Curriculum but are broad enough to be used more widely.

Please note that while these activities can be downloaded by non-members, many of them require full access to the archive, which is only available to members. Individual teachers can join here or contact us if your school would like to join.

Plants and habitats

  • The flowers on this website come from South Devon in the South West of England, mainly from woodland, riverbanks, marshes and hedgerows but some from coastal and moorland areas. Use the website to collect images of plants from different habitats.
  • The downloadable worksheet describes two habitats, along with plants found in them at different seasons. Use the website to collect information about the habitats and to think about why they vary. The Activity Sheet suggests making a habitat poster using images from the website.
